About The Duke of Edinburgh Cup
A prestigious global amateur golf series raising funds for children and young people in need worldwide.
A Legacy of Golf for Good
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup was founded in 2000 by His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. What began as a vision to unite the world of amateur golf with meaningful charitable impact has grown into one of the most prestigious amateur charity golf tournaments globally.
For over two decades, the Cup has brought together golfers from across the world, raising significant funds for charities supporting children and young people in need. The tournament operates on a unique model: 100% of net funds raised in each host country are disbursed to agreed charities in that country.
Today, under the support of HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh KG GCVO, the Cup continues this proud tradition, with professional golfer Justin Rose MBE serving as the official Golfing Ambassador.
Under Royal Support
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup operates under the distinguished support of HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh KG GCVO. His Royal Highness continues the charitable legacy established by his late father, Prince Philip, ensuring the Cup remains a beacon of excellence in amateur golf and philanthropic endeavour.
The World Finals culminate with a Gala Prize Giving Dinner at Windsor Castle, attended by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh himself, who personally presents prizes to the world's top qualifiers.
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup Comes to Aotearoa New Zealand
New Zealand has been offered the prestigious opportunity to host an inaugural qualifying tournament for The Duke of Edinburgh Cup. Doozie Ltd has been mandated to establish this tournament in New Zealand on behalf of The Duke of Edinburgh Cup.
The Duke of Edinburgh Cup New Zealand qualifying tournament will be held on Friday, 8 May 2026 at the iconic Royal Wellington Golf Club, one of New Zealand's most prestigious golf venues.
This means that net funds raised from the New Zealand event will be disbursed directly to charities here in Aotearoa New Zealand, supporting Young Enterprise (YES) and Golf New Zealand's youth, women & girls, and disability programmes.
